Thank you for choosing Wonders of Peru Expeditions as your adventure partner in Peru! Traveling through the Andes and other parts of Peru can differ from the experience in your home country. We kindly ask that you carefully review the following terms and conditions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey.
Travel in Peru
Wonders of Peru Expeditions operates in regions where infrastructure and services may vary from international standards. While we take every precaution and care to deliver top-quality service, traveling in Peru requires flexibility, patience, a positive attitude, and an understanding that changes may occur due to unforeseen or uncontrollable circumstances such as strikes, protests, weather disruptions, or natural events.
By booking any of our tours or treks, you acknowledge and accept that Wonders of Peru Expeditions may need to adjust itineraries without prior notice and cannot be held liable for changes caused by force majeure situations.
Force Majeure
Force Majeure refers to events that are beyond our control and could not be foreseen or prevented, including but not limited to:

Political unrest or strikes

Civil disturbances or protests

Natural disasters (landslides, floods, earthquakes, etc.)

Health emergencies or epidemics
-
Adverse weather conditions
-
Government mandates or restrictions
In such situations, Wonders of Peru Expeditions reserves the right to cancel, modify, or delay itineraries without liability. In extreme cases, trips may be canceled as a last resort.
Additional Fees: If early departures or alternative arrangements are required due to strikes or road closures, an additional fee may be charged to cover extra logistical costs.
Assumption of Risk
Participation in our treks and tours (e.g., Inca Trail, Salkantay, Lares, Ausangate, Choquequirao) involves inherent risks. By booking with us, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with high-altitude travel, remote destinations, medical emergencies, and transportation delays. Wonders of Peru Expeditions is not liable for accidents, health issues, or airline problems during your trip.
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that includes coverage for:

Medical emergencies and evacuation

Trip cancellations or interruptions

Lost or delayed baggage
-
Emergency repatriation

Adventure activity coverage
Please send your insurance policy number and provider name to us by email or bring a copy to our office upon arrival.
Holiday & Election Day Surcharge
An additional $45 USD per person applies for treks that begin on the following dates:

Christmas: December 22–25

New Year: December 29–January 1

Election Days in Peru (due to mandatory voting laws)
These fees help us compensate our staff with holiday pay or cover fines associated with government requirements.
Primary & Backup Departure Dates
When booking your trek (Inca Trail, Lares, Salkantay, Choquequirao, etc.), you authorize Wonders of Peru Expeditions to confirm availability for either your primary or backup date. After receiving your deposit and booking form, we will send you an official confirmation email within 48 hours confirming your final departure date.
Booking Details & Passport Information
Please ensure your passport number and personal details are valid at the time of booking. If your passport changes after booking, notify us immediately—especially for Machu Picchu permits, which are strictly tied to the exact passport used for booking.
Making a Reservation
To confirm your tour or trek with Wonders of Peru Expeditions:

A the full amount of the tour is deposited at the time of booking.

A booking becomes official once your payment and personal details (full name, passport number, nationality, gender, and date of birth) are received.

The person submitting the reservation is responsible for all travelers listed and confirms they have reviewed and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
Cancellation Policy
All deposits are 100% non-refundable, due to the costs of securing permits, tickets, and services.
Cancellation Fees:

More than 8 weeks before departure: 50% of total cost

8–4 weeks before: 60% of total cost
-
4 weeks–5 days before: 80% of total cost
-
5 days–48 hours before: 90% of total cost
-
Less than 48 hours before: 100% of total cost
No refunds will be issued once a trek has started.
Client-Initiated Changes
Only the person who submitted the booking may request changes. A $35 USD administrative fee will apply. Changes are not guaranteed and may incur additional charges.
Note: Inca Trail permits are non-transferable, non-refundable, and non-changeable by Peruvian government policy.
Changes or Cancellations by Wonders of Peru Expeditions
We strive to operate all services as booked. However, due to changing conditions (see Force Majeure), itinerary adjustments or substitutions may occur. We will always notify you of major changes and offer available alternatives of similar value.
Altitude & Acclimatization Advice

We highly recommend arriving in Cusco at least 2–4 days before your trek to acclimate to high altitude (3,000m / 9,842 ft).

Drink plenty of fluids, eat carbohydrates, and avoid alcohol or cigarettes.
-
Coca tea and altitude medication (like Diamox) may assist with symptoms—consult your physician before travel.
Briefing Before Your Trek
A mandatory pre-trek briefing will be held the evening before your departure at our Cusco office (typically at 6:00 or 7:00 pm). We will confirm the exact time with you by email or upon your arrival. You will receive your duffel bag and any pre-rented equipment (like sleeping bags) during this briefing.
