The Sacred Valley & Classic Inca Trail 7 Days 6 Nights is the ultimate Cusco experience — combining the Sacred Valley’s archaeological wonders with the complete 4-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu in one all-inclusive package. Arrive, acclimatize, explore, and trek with everything taken care of.

Why Choose This 7-Day Package?

This package wraps the classic 4-day Inca Trail trek inside a complete Cusco itinerary with proper acclimatization time. What to Expect

Days 1-2 are for acclimatization and Sacred Valley exploration in comfortable conditions. Days 3-6 are the classic Inca Trail — crossing Dead Woman’s Pass, exploring cloud forest ruins, and arriving at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate. Day 7 is a relaxed return to Cusco.

Highlights

Physical Preparation

The Inca Trail is a moderately strenuous trek that requires good physical fitness. The route includes steep ascents, stone steps, and altitude above 4,000m. We recommend starting a training program 8-12 weeks before your trek.

Recommended Training

Focus on cardiovascular fitness with hiking, running, cycling, or stair climbing 3-4 times per week. Include strength training for your legs and core. Practice hiking with a loaded daypack on varied terrain.

Acclimatization

We strongly recommend arriving in Cusco (3,400m / 11,150ft) at least 2-3 days before your trek. Spend time exploring the city, the Sacred Valley, or taking short day hikes to adjust to altitude. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol on the first day, and drink coca tea.

What to Bring

Pack light for the trek. Your porter carries your overnight duffel (max 8 kg). You only need a daypack with water, snacks, camera, sunscreen, rain jacket, and warm layer. See the Packing List tab for a complete guide.

Health Considerations

Consult your doctor before traveling to high altitude. Consider altitude sickness medication (acetazolamide/Diamox) as a precaution. Our team carries supplemental oxygen and a full first-aid kit. Inform us of any dietary restrictions or allergies in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this 7-day package include that the 4-day trek doesn't?
This package adds a full Sacred Valley day tour (Ollantaytambo, Moray, Maras Salt Mines), an acclimatization day in Cusco, airport transfers, and 6 nights accommodation. It's the complete Cusco experience wrapped around the classic Inca Trail trek.
Why is the acclimatization day important?
Cusco sits at 3,400m (11,150ft) and the Inca Trail reaches 4,215m. Arriving 2 days before the trek allows your body to adjust to altitude, dramatically reducing the risk of altitude sickness and making the trek more enjoyable.
How difficult is the Inca Trail?
The Inca Trail is moderately strenuous. Day 4 (Dead Woman's Pass at 4,215m) is the most challenging. We recommend starting a training program 8-12 weeks before. The extra acclimatization days in this package help significantly.
What hotels are included?
We include 3-star hotels in Cusco and Aguas Calientes. Upgrades to 4 or 5-star hotels are available upon request.
How far in advance should I book?
Inca Trail permits sell out months in advance. Book 4-6 months ahead for peak season (May-September) and 2-3 months for shoulder season.
What meals are included?
All meals on the Inca Trail (3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners, afternoon tea). Hotel breakfasts on non-trek days. Sacred Valley day includes lunch. See itinerary for specific meal details per day.
Can I extend my stay?
Yes. We can add extra nights in Cusco or Aguas Calientes, day tours (Rainbow Mountain, Cusco city), or other extensions. Contact us to customize your itinerary.
What is the group size?
Maximum 8 people on the Inca Trail portion. The Sacred Valley day tour and transfers are private for your group only.
Is the return train included?
Yes, the Expedition class train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo is included, plus private transport back to Cusco. Upgrade to Vistadome available.
What about altitude sickness?
This package is designed with acclimatization in mind. Days 1-2 in Cusco and the Sacred Valley allow your body to adjust before the trek. Our guides carry supplemental oxygen and are trained in altitude sickness management.
