This Cusco Inca Trail Rainbow Mountain 7 day package combines two of Peru’s greatest adventures into one unforgettable week. Trek the legendary 4-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu through cloud forests and ancient ruins, then hike to the stunning Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) with its otherworldly striped mineral colors at 5,200 meters.
Start with acclimatization in Cusco, then embark on the classic 4-day Inca Trail — crossing Dead Woman’s Pass at 4,215 meters, exploring ruins like Wiñay Wayna, and arriving at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate at sunrise. After a day of recovery in Cusco, you tackle the Rainbow Mountain day hike at 5,200 meters — one of Peru’s most photographed landscapes, where layers of mineral deposits create stunning bands of red, yellow, and turquoise across the mountainside.
Day 1 is for arrival and acclimatization. Days 2-5 are the classic Inca Trail trek — 4 days of camping, mountain passes, cloud forests, and ancient Inca ruins, culminating with your sunrise arrival at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate. After a full guided tour of the citadel, you return to Cusco by train. Day 6 is the Rainbow Mountain day hike, departing at 3:00 AM for the drive to the trailhead and a challenging high-altitude hike. Day 7 is a free morning before your departure transfer.
