The Horseback Riding to Machu Picchu 4 Days with Wonders of Peru Expeditions combines the thrill of riding through the Andean highlands with a guided tour of the world’s most famous Inca citadel. Over four days you ride through ancient Inca trails, past sacred mountains, traditional farming communities, and archaeological sites before arriving at Machu Picchu.
This is one of the most unique ways to reach Machu Picchu. Instead of trekking on foot, you experience the Andean landscape on horseback — covering more ground while enjoying panoramic views from the saddle. Well-trained Peruvian Paso horses carry you through highlands, valleys, and cloud forest. Our bilingual guide leads small groups with full camping support, a professional cook, and pack horses for your gear.
Days 1 and 2 follow mountain trails through the highlands above the Sacred Valley, passing Sacsayhuaman, Piuray Lake, and the Chinchero plateau. Day 3 takes you past the circular terraces of Moray and the Maras salt mines before descending to the Sacred Valley for a train to Aguas Calientes. Day 4 is a full guided tour of Machu Picchu before returning to Cusco by train.
