The Luxury Inca Trail 4 Days 3 Nights is the ultimate way to experience the world’s most iconic trek. Follow the same ancient pathway as the classic Inca Trail — crossing Dead Woman’s Pass, exploring cloud forest ruins, and entering Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate — but with an unparalleled level of comfort that transforms camping into glamping.

Why Choose the Luxury Inca Trail?

This is for travelers who refuse to compromise between adventure and comfort. Sleep on camping cots with feather duvets and cotton sheets. Shower each evening in your private hot shower tent. Receive a complimentary massage from a certified therapist after every day on the trail. Dine on gourmet a la carte meals prepared by your private chef, served on ceramic crockery with wine and cocktails from the open bar.

With a maximum of just 6 guests, your luxury group receives exclusive, personalized attention from your private guide and dedicated support team. This is not a standard trek with a few upgrades — it is a fundamentally different experience from start to finish.

What to Expect

The route follows the classic 4-day Inca Trail from KM 82 to Machu Picchu, covering 43 kilometers through diverse Andean landscapes. Day 1 is a gentle warm-up through the Urubamba Valley to your first luxury camp. Day 2 is the big challenge — crossing Dead Woman’s Pass at 4,215m. Day 3 winds through stunning cloud forest and past the most impressive ruins on the trail. Day 4 brings the iconic sunrise arrival at Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate, followed by a private guided tour and Vistadome train return to Cusco.

Every evening at camp, you’ll find your spacious walk-in tent furnished with a cot, luxurious bedding, and a silk robe. After a hot shower and massage, settle into the private dining tent for a gourmet multi-course dinner with open bar.

Physical Preparation

While the luxury experience provides maximum comfort at camp, the Inca Trail itself requires good physical fitness. The trail includes steep ascents, stone steps, and altitude above 4,000m. We recommend a training program starting 8-12 weeks before your trek.

Recommended Training

Focus on cardiovascular fitness with hiking, running, cycling, or stair climbing 3-4 times per week. Include strength training for your legs and core. Practice hiking with a daypack (5-8 kg) on varied terrain to build endurance and confidence.

Acclimatization

We strongly recommend arriving in Cusco (3,400m / 11,150ft) at least 2-3 days before your trek begins. Spend time exploring the city, the Sacred Valley, or taking short day hikes to help your body adjust to the altitude. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol for the first day, and drink coca tea — a traditional Andean remedy for altitude.

What to Bring

Your luxury trek includes almost everything you need — bedding, towels, toiletries, and all meals. You only need to carry a daypack with personal items for each day’s hiking: water, snacks, camera, sunscreen, rain jacket, and a warm layer. Your porter team carries everything else, including your overnight duffel bag (max 8 kg / 17.6 lbs).

Health Considerations

Consult your doctor before traveling to high altitude. Consider bringing altitude sickness medication (acetazolamide/Diamox) as a precaution. Our team carries supplemental oxygen and a full first-aid kit. If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, please inform us in advance so our chef can accommodate your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this different from the standard Inca Trail trek?
Our luxury trek follows the same iconic route as the classic 4-day Inca Trail, but with an entirely different level of comfort. You sleep on camping cots with feather duvets and cotton sheets (no sleeping bags needed), enjoy hot showers at every camp, receive complimentary massages each evening, dine on gourmet a la carte meals served on ceramic crockery, and have access to a full open bar. The group size is limited to just 6 guests for an exclusive, personalized experience.
Do I need to bring a sleeping bag?
No. We provide full luxury bedding at every campsite: camping cots, feather duvets, cotton sheets, and down pillows. You will also receive a silk robe to wear around camp. This is a true glamping experience.
What kind of meals are served?
Our private chef prepares gourmet multi-course meals with an a la carte menu option each evening. Meals are served on ceramic crockery with real glassware in a private dining tent. The open bar includes wine, beer, spirits, cocktails (including pisco sours), and hot beverages. All dietary preferences and restrictions are accommodated.
How physically demanding is this trek?
The route is identical to the classic Inca Trail and requires good physical fitness. Day 2 includes crossing Dead Woman's Pass at 4,215m, which is challenging. However, the luxury comforts at camp help you recover much better than standard camping. We recommend a training program starting 8-12 weeks before your trek.
What is the maximum group size?
We limit our luxury groups to a maximum of 6 guests, ensuring personalized attention from your private guide and staff. This also means less crowded campsites and a more exclusive experience throughout the trek.
Is the massage included in the price?
Yes. A certified massage therapist accompanies the trek and provides complimentary massages at camp each evening. This is included in the tour price — there is no additional charge.
What about bathroom facilities?
You will have your own private portable toilet in a dedicated tent at each campsite. No shared facilities. Hot showers with cotton towels are also provided at every camp.
How far in advance should I book?
Inca Trail permits are limited by the Peruvian government and sell out months in advance. We recommend booking 4-6 months ahead for peak season (May-September) and at least 2-3 months for shoulder season. Luxury groups are especially limited, so early booking is essential.
What train do we take back?
You return aboard the Vistadome panoramic train, which features floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, complimentary onboard drinks, live Andean music, and a traditional fashion show. It's a wonderful way to end your trek.
Can I upgrade to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain?
Yes. We can add either Huayna Picchu ($75) or Machu Picchu Mountain ($75) to your Day 4 itinerary, subject to permit availability. These must be booked well in advance as permits are limited.
What is the altitude like?
The trek starts at 2,720m (KM 82) and reaches a maximum of 4,215m at Dead Woman's Pass. Machu Picchu sits at 2,430m. We recommend arriving in Cusco 2-3 days early to acclimatize. Our team carries supplemental oxygen for emergencies.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellations 60+ days before departure receive a full refund minus a $200 non-refundable deposit. 30-59 days: 50% refund. 15-29 days: 25% refund. Less than 14 days: no refund. Inca Trail permits are non-transferable. We strongly recommend travel insurance.
