This luxury 2-day experience requires no special physical preparation — it’s designed for comfort and relaxation throughout. You’ll be traveling by private vehicle and train, with moderate walking at the Sacred Valley archaeological sites and Machu Picchu.
We recommend arriving in Cusco at least 1-2 days before this tour. The Sacred Valley sits lower than Cusco (2,800m vs 3,400m), so you’ll likely feel better as you descend. Machu Picchu is at approximately 2,430m. Stay hydrated and drink coca tea to help with altitude adjustment.
Pack light — your 5-star hotel provides all amenities. Bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, a light rain jacket, and your camera. A small daypack is useful for carrying water and personal items during site visits.
This tour is suitable for all fitness levels. Walking at the ruins involves some steps and uneven terrain but nothing strenuous. If you have mobility concerns, let us know and we can adjust the pace. Our guide carries a first-aid kit and supplemental oxygen.
